Donnie and Alison host a birthday party for one of their adopted children. It serves as a wonderful backdrop to a touching scene and confirms that it is canonically in Toronto. But in this episode, for the first time, we are shown the Toronto skyline. The show has always been set in Toronto, but it's also always been shot so that it could be any urban city. These scenes comprise the majority of the episode, and serve as excellent character studies. Siobhan also blames them, which does not help the problem. Sarah and Cosima blame themselves for the tragic events of last week, and so they lash out and do reckless things. The characters receive some additional depth, and it is very well structured so that it never becomes boring. In fact, there isn't a whole lot going on in general throughout most of this episode, and yet it is strangely watchable. As a result, there isn't a whole lot of advancement of the plot in this episode until the last couple of minutes. It was pretty much all about the characters recovering from last week's shocking events.
